About Art by Alem is the creative practice of Alem Belay, a multimedia artist from East Oakland, California, who has been immersed in art since age five. Starting with classes at a local art space in East Oakland, Alem developed expertise in drawing with pencil, charcoal, and oil pastel, gravitating toward realism through blending techniques. After struggling with academics in college, the pandemic provided the courage to pursue art full-time, beginning with commissions before expanding into modeling, styling, and creative directing. Alem specializes in helping clients expand basic ideas into full productions through mood boards and intentional set construction. With a mission to break generational curses through authentic creative expression, Alem leads with heart while building financial freedom for family. The practice emphasizes authentic brand identity and trusting one's inner voice to guide creative journeys and life transitions.
